Job Description

Job Description: 
  • Assess and determine the patient’s needs for the prescribed orthotic/prosthetic following the functional assessment as per established clinical standard of practice, policies and procedures and accrediting bodies. Coordinate and liaise with physicians and assist in undertaking and conducting comprehensive examination, evaluation and formulation of prescriptions for patients orthotic or prosthetic needs.
  • Measure, mold, fabricate and fit prescribed prostheses/orthoses to patients’ using available materials. Assess the effectiveness of the orthoses/prostheses in terms of functional and safety.
  • Analyze orthotic and prosthetic problems to develop or adapt new or improved methods, techniques, instruments and devices including modification and correction of pre-fabricated orthoses/prostheses when instructed by the Physicians and as indicated by the patients if uncomfortable or problematic.
  • Identify the needs of the patients and recommend to refer to another facility or specialized centers, as and if needed. Liaise with other rehabilitation team members (i.e. Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist., Nurse, Physician) to discuss patient’s needs and plan of care for rehabilitation recovery.
  • Maintain comprehensive written notes, including initial assessment, plan of care, follow up progress notes to keep up to date and meet established clinical standards of practice. Provide a written discharge summary upon patient’s discharge. Coordinate and liaise with clinical supervisor to establish and update clinical standards of practice for orthotics/prosthetics.
  • Instruct and educate the patient for care of the appropriate, safe use and maintenance of the fabricated orthoses/prostheses. Coordinate with other sections of the department to ensure workflow efficiencies are maintained effectively within the department.
  • Comply with Health Information System procedures utilizing appropriate methods of operation and technical
  • Prepare and submit statistical reports detailing analyzed data for review and feedback.
  • Ensure safe and efficient working equipment, reporting faults and problems through the appropriate channels.
  • Participate in and contribute to staff development, educational programmes (including orthotist/ prosthetist training programmes) and team meetings, providing presentations and contributing input and feedback to support departmental activity.
  • Perform other job related duties.
Job Requirements: 
  • Bachelor Degree in Orthotics/Prosthetics or related discipline from an accredited institution – Essential
  • Board Certified or Licensed Orthotist/Prosthetist from country of origin – Essential
  • Registration with Saudi Commission for Health Specialties – Essential
  • Minimum of 4 (four) years’ position-related practical experience – Essential
