Job Description

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists in the oversight of the daily operation of his/her assigned shift in the PED ER (Triage, UCC, Resus & Acute Care). Commensurate with his / her education, experience, credentialing and job description,
  2. Assists in developing departmental goals and objectives.
  3. Assists in the design, implementations, reviews and updates of Policies and Procedures for the PED ER every 2 years.
  4. Orients and keeps himself updates (initially & periodically after return from annual vacations) regarding the most currently revised hospital and department policies, procedures, standards and rules.
  5. Orients, advices & updates members / colleagues in PED ER regarding the most currently revised hospital and department policies & procedures, standards and regulations,
  6. Adhere to hospital / departmental regulations pertaining to essential physician PED ER Chart documentation, utilization of BestCare System medical records applications for medical documentation.
  7. Maintains his/her certification status required acute life support updated as well as maintaining his/her required CME & T Credits for the Saudi Council for Health Specializations (SCHS).
  8. Participates in the implementation of the PED ER Performance Improvement Plan (PIP); criteria, standards & indicators to evaluate, monitor, and implement changes and re-evaluate changes to improve the quality and appropriateness of practice provided by the department; in accordance with iCiA and CBAHI
  9. Participates & attends assigned departmental and hospital committees and meeting.
  10. Monitors, interprets and reports concerning statistics, productivity (e.g. Consultations in PED ER Policy, Patient’s waiting time, ED length of stay, Flow escalation process…etc.).
  11. Assists in delegating appropriate duties & responsibilities to staff within the department commensurate with their education, experience and job description.
  12. Liaison & coordination on operational issues with the Nursing Division Leadership (DCN, NS & NM)
  13. Liaison & coordination oversight with Patient Relations Supervisor& Officers on patient complaints, sick leave issuance, medical report issuance & follow-up.
  14. Assists and leads in training and education of junior staff to maintain skill levels.
  15. Assists in conducting annual performance appraisal of PED ER Department staff as requested by PED ER
  16. Become familiar and competently understand his/her role expectations during Disaster response (Code Black), participates and leads in the implementation of medical contingency disaster plans in PED ER; including Medical operations oversight, emergency response and medical evacuation during his/her clinical shift.
  17. Assists Junior PED ER Members in the care of patients who require special skills because of the nature of severity of the presenting complaint.
  18. Residency Training Program participation, with training and evaluation within the department.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chairman, Department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine which are within the post-holder’s qualifications and capabilities.
Job Requirements: 

Education: Bachelor Degree in MBBS; Medical Practitioner who is Pediatric Emergency Medicine
Trained and Pediatric or Emergency Board Certified; Saudi, Arab, U.S.A. or Canada. Registered in Saudi Council for Health Specialization (SCHS) and current license to practice in medicine in Saudi Arabia

Experience: Minimum of 1 (one) – Preferred
